National Conference 2006
THEME: MAKING SISS RESEARCH RELEVANT TO SOCIETY
The Australian Research Council Research Network in Spatially Integrated Social Science (ARCRNSISS) brings together researchers and graduate students from across the nation to develop Australia's capacity and capability to apply spatial theories and methods to the analysis of people and places and the quality of life of Australians. The ARCRNSISS Annual Conference is the Network's major annual event to showcase to the public our research effort.
The theme for the 2006 Annual Conference, to be held at the University of Melbourne, is Making SISS Research Relevant to Society.
The conference will feature a number of keynote speakers and panellists who are leading Australian and overseas thinkers and practitioners in applying spatially integrated approaches to the study of social, economic and behavioural issues challenging our society.
The ARCRNSISS 2005 Annual Conference - Melbourne also provides the opportunity for the Network's Paradigm Forums and Applications Working Groups to develop their research agendas and for researchers and graduate students to present summary outcomes of current SISS research effort in Australia.
A leading journalist and social commentator will be invited to address the conference on how to make research findings newsworthy.
